Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how PlugOut ("PlugOut", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the PlugOut mobile app and this website (together, the "Service"). PlugOut is currently in active development and not yet available on the App Store.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and password (stored securely and never in plain text) to authenticate you and manage your account.

Location Data

To show nearby chargers and plan routes, PlugOut accesses your device's real-time location. Location data is used to query charger availability and calculate trip routes, and is not shared with third parties beyond what's necessary to provide these features (see "Third-Party Services" below).

Vehicle Information

We store details you provide about your vehicle — make, model, battery capacity, and charge curve — to tailor range estimates and trip plans to your specific car.

Community Content

Posts, replies, and profile information you share in the EV Community forum are stored and visible to other users of the Service, in line with normal forum functionality.

Usage & Analytics Data

We collect data about your driving efficiency, charging sessions, and cost savings to power the Driver Analytics dashboard. This data is tied to your account and used only to show these statistics back to you.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information above to:

  • Provide core features: charger discovery, trip planning, vehicle-specific range estimates, and driver analytics
  • Operate the EV Community forum
  • Maintain and secure your account
  • Improve and troubleshoot the Service

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

3. Third-Party Services

PlugOut relies on the following third-party services to operate. Each processes a limited subset of data necessary for its function:

  • Supabase — hosts our database and handles account authentication
  • OpenChargeMap — provides charger location and availability data based on your queried location
  • Mapbox — provides map tiles and visual navigation
  • OSRM (Open Source Routing Machine) — calculates driving routes between your origin, destination, and charging stops

These providers may process your location or account data solely to deliver the corresponding feature, under their own respective privacy and security practices.

4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored in Supabase's managed infrastructure with encryption in transit (TLS) and access controls limiting who can read your data. While we take reasonable steps to protect your information, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account remains active. If you delete your account, we will delete your associated personal data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights under applicable law — including Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010 — to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data, and to withdraw consent to its processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below.

7. Children's Privacy

PlugOut is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under the age of 13.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as PlugOut evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
